Warehousing

Warehousing

Preventing rapid fire spread through automated fire protection technology.

As storage space requirements continue to grow, newly constructed automated warehouses are becoming increasingly large. At the same time, automated warehouse systems are broadly categorized into manually operated and fully automated types. Whether storing finished goods or consolidating packaging materials, these facilities face significant fire hazards. Moreover, their open, high‑bay configurations can dramatically accelerate fire spread. Fully automated systems prohibit human access, necessitating the installation of automatic fire suppression systems. Rapid fire detection and extinguishment are therefore critical.

Fire Safety Technical Requirements

Elevated warehouses are typically protected by sprinkler systems, which comprise automatic ceiling‑mounted sprinklers and in‑rack sprinkler systems. However, depending on the type of stored goods, a more robust water‑curtain system is recommended.

Fixed foam fire-extinguishing proportioning mixer

Certain fires can only be extinguished using foam. To this end, fixed‑type proportioning units are installed in the elevated storage warehouse to supply premixed concentrate to the sprinkler system and the water‑spray fire‑extinguishing system, enabling the generation of fire‑fighting foam.

Fire Risks in Warehousing

Material and Packaging Concentration:

Due to the centralized storage of materials and packaging, automated high-bay warehouses pose a significant fire risk.

Typical Applications

When developing a fire safety plan, please be sure to consider the following:

Fixed foam fire‑extinguishing proportioning mixers shall be installed at a safe distance from the hazardous area.
